Welcome to the Highline Community
"A community is an aggregate of people who have made a commitment to learn how to communicate with each other at an ever more deep and authentic level."
- M. Scott Peck
Highline Public Schools is particularly interested in the ways we can partner with our community to ensure effective educational decision-making. We feel particularly fortunate to have the community regularly supports levies and bond issues, which provide the district's rich educational programs and well-maintained facilities. The community also supports its public schools in other ways: more than 500 businesses and individuals are involved through partnerships and more than 1,000 parent and community volunteers are currently helping in schools.
Ensuring that our children not only have a grounding in the basics but also have a commitment to a lifetime of learning will require an agenda for education unlike any we have seen before. To achieve this reform, we are going to have to raise our expectations for our children and for ourselves. We ALL must seek ways to get involved in education. Local communities must address their own educational needs and goals and creatively draw upon resources for the improvement of their own schools.
This portion of the website encourages active community involvement. We rely on a variety of insights, perspectives and experiences. We invite individuals, parents, businesses and community members to work with us regularly. We invite our community to glance through this portion of our website and identify ways they can support education - from business partnerships to life-long learning programs and Super Seniors attending school events! We know that the Highline community, working together, can make a positive difference in the lives of our Highline youth.
