In February, eighth-grade students and their families will learn about the choices open to them for high school. Students can apply for one of three district-wide high school options. Or they can move up to the high school campus in their neighborhood service area. On any of these campuses, students are assigned to a small learning community in which they'll spend at least two of their four years in high school. The Tyee and Evergreen campuses each house three distinct small high schools; Mount Rainier and Highline High School are organized in academies.
Eighth graders get a chance to check out the high school campus in their service area on a school-day visit. Most campuses also host an evening event where students and parents can learn more about the small schools or academies. Below are the dates the high schools are hosting their eighth grade parent nights:
Mount Rainier – March 10, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
MRHS I.B. Information – March 10, 8:00-9:00 p.m.
Puget Sound Skills Center – March 10, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Big Picture High School - March 18, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
