The Dark Angel
By Meredith Ann Pierce
A page turning fantasy, The Dark Angel by Meredith Ann Pierce, captures the life of Aeriel, a plain looking slave who is on a quest of love, avenging her dearest friend’s death from the Dark Angel himself. As soon as she confronts this handsome creature, he whisks her away to his home where she comes to find that her friend did not die, but was captured along with twelve other girls, for their beauty attracted the Dark Angel. She was brought there to serve the thirteen girls who were the Dark Angel’s brides. He only needed one more girl, worthy of his magnificence, to gain his full power and join his brothers’ plans in ruling over the world. As Aeriel works for the wives, she realizes she must stop this cruel madness and the only solution that comes to her mind is that she must kill the Dark Angel. However, she discovers that his fair features have captivated her enough to yield to his voice and it will be hard to disobey his commands. As time passes at the Dark Angel’s castle, she is able to catch little glimpses of good, deep within the Dark Angel, dwelling somewhere in his black, covered heart. She then wonders if she could save this dark being along with his many wives. A true suspenseful story filled with emotion, will surely open your eyes to the power of love and how a person can be greatly affected when she shows kindness and compassion to others. Read this book and feel your heart flutter when the story climaxes to an event that will catch you by surprise. You will consider the ways of this girl, Aeriel, and see that a benevolent person could change the heart of another.
