Not every kid has the glamorous life, I should know. For me living in ghetto is tough because I go to sleep at night scared that I won’t see the next day. So many people break into people’s houses and kill them. There is always fighting over money and right in front of my house a man shot another man and I don’t know why. I want kids who live in the ghetto to feel like they’re in heaven and that they don’t have to be scared of getting shot. Kids should be able to express the way they feel about living in ghetto. Some will express it by wearing bandanas but they don’t tell people about how they really feel about living where they live. I want kids to look at me as there role model or as a big brother who will listen to them.

My goal is to be a mentor. I should know about mentors because I have one. I look up to my mentor because he does a lot of great things with me like play football, basketball and talk. A mentor is like one of the greatest friends you can have because they love to hear how your day is going, they keep you up when you are down, and they always have great advice about things. They are just like having parents because they know what you like and what you think. That’s why it’s so amazing to have a mentor.

I’ll reach my goal by talking to teachers so that they know I’m a good kid and I can help kids who are getting in trouble a lot it school. I can help get them straight. I can meet with them during lunch time and do things with them the way my mentor does with me. And when I’m older I won’t be afraid to tell people that I want to be a mentor because I really want to help kids.

Mentors have a big effect in life because when kids grow up they’re never going to forget their mentors because that was one of the greatest friends they ever had, and I hope I can leave a mark on kids the way my mentor left a mark on me.
