Student
Jessie Stair, age 20, passed away this week as a
result of a health condition – however, her death was
sudden and unexpected.
Many people remember her ready smile and great giggle!
Jessie attended Highline Public Schools for many years
including Marvista Elementary School, Midway Intermediate
School, Chinook Middle School, and Tyee High School. She
was enrolled in Highline’s Community Based Services (CBS).
She touched the hearts of those she met – from the
transportation staff to the teachers and paraeducators in
the classrooms – she was special.
Jessie’s classroom teacher, Jodi-Ann Rodrigues, told us,
"Jessie was a very happy young woman who always had a huge
smile and a playful glint in her eyes. She brightened the
room with her presence. Jessie lived life to the fullest".
Jodi-Ann has many shared memories of Jessie including,
"She always got on the wildest carnival ride she could
without fear and with a huge grin on her face. She loved
school, shopping at the mall with her friends, and playing
jokes on people. Jessie attended every UW Men's Basketball
home game and got to sit at the end of the bench with the
team. She will always be remembered fondly and missed
dearly by all who knew her."
Jessie’s older brother, Jordan, is a graduate of Mount
Rainier High School. She is also survived by her parents,
Bob and Mollie Rondeau, and Martin Stair.
Jessie would have graduated in June 2008.
Her memorial service will be
on April 5, 2007, University of Washington Bank of America
Arena, at 7:00 pm.
Dorothy Watson,
Highline teacher for 28 years, passed away on March 7
after a brief illness at the age of 88. Dorothy was hired
in 1947 at Lake Burien, moved to Southern Heights in 1956,
and then to Bow Lake in 1967. She taught the fifth grade
for her entire career. She retired in 1975. She belonged
to several educational organizations and received the
Golden Acorn Award for her outstanding work. One of her
most appreciated events occurred on February 25, 2006,
when a former student organized a "Miss Watson Reunion" of
those who had been her fifth-grade students during her
years at Southern Heights. Over 70 of her former students
met to honor her achievements and discuss the impact she
had on their lives.
