High School Fair a Success

Return to newsletter Highline Public Schools hosted the first-ever High School Fair for middle school students and their parents to learn more about all the small school options available. The event, held at Evergreen High School, attracted over 300 families to hear Superintendent Welch address the changing landscape of high school and the need for education beyond. The event also featured the debut of a 10 minute program with students, parents and staff describing the benefits of small learning communities and the options available. Organized by Michael Sita, of the Office of Secondary Education, the fair gave the schools the opportunity to showcase their unique approach to personalized education!   Daniel Dutton and Wendy Kim (on the right), seniors at Global Business and Marketing at Highline High School, answer questions for Alex Turner, a Sylvester Middle School 8th grader and his mom Laura Turner.     Alana Vinther of Global Connections High School talks with a father and daughter about the schools on the Tyee Campus.     For answers to questions about life after high school, parents and students talked with Marianna Goheen of the Office of College and Career.     Dave Estes explains the benefits of the programs at OSC.     Evergreen staff Perry Sampley and Ray Zombro explain the curriculum of the Technology, Engineering, and Communications School.     Marci Stadiem talks about the options for schools at the Evergreen Campus.   Lou Vargus, a senior at Global Connections High School, answers questions from students.   Aviation High School students staffed their table - ready to talk with parents and students.
