Dr. Robert Faist, a
long-time language arts teacher at Mount Rainier High
School, passed away Tuesday, October 24. His career with
Highline dates back to 1978 when he started as a reading
and language arts teacher at Puget Sound Junior High. He
spent four years at Cascade Middle School before joining
the Mount Rainier staff in 1984. Dr. Faist has been on
leave of absence since second semester last year and
succumbed to his illness.
Marian Hart passed away peacefully on September 30,
2006, at the age of 92. Between the years 1942 through
1951, Marian subbed for the district in primary grades. In
1951 she was hired to teach grades 3 & 4 at Boulevard
Park, and then in 1962 moved to Lakeview to teach grades
3, 4, & 5. Marian resigned in June 1968 but continued to
substitute until December 1981. While with our district,
Marian was “Teacher of the Year” two times!
Dr. Robert Sealey passed away October 15 at the age
of 79. Bob started out as a science teacher in 1949 at
Puget Sound Junior High. He served as counselor at
Evergreen High School until his promotion to principal of
Sunset Junior High in 1957. He later became principal at
Highline High School where he served until moving to the
central office in 1966. Bob led the secondary curriculum
team in 1966 and then became Area Administrator in 1967.
In 1972 he was selected to serve as Superintendent, a role
he held until his retirement in 1981. Services for Dr.
Sealey will be Saturday, October 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace
Community Church located at 1320 Auburn Way South in
Auburn, Washington. Click
