General: Upcoming Dates: P.C.T. Days (Release @ 12:35pm): Oct 16, 23, 30; Nov 6, 13, 20; Dec 4, 11, 18 + Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, June most Fridays Advisory Days (Alternate Bell Schedule): Oct 8, 22; Nov 12, 19; Dec 10, 17; Jan 14, 28; Feb 11, 25; Mar 11, 25; Apr 15, 29; May 6, 13 IB Exam Registration: Attention Juniors & Seniors in IB Classes! If you are planning on taking an IB Exam this May you must register by October 30th. Pick up a registrations form from your IB teacher or from Mr. Wilder in Rm 2407. PSAT Info: The PSAT will be offered October 14th during the school day. All juniors will automatically take the PSAT for free. Sophomores may sign up to take it. The cost for Sophomores is $15.00 and the deadline to sign up is Thursday, Oct 8th. Pay the fee in bookkeeping then bring your receipt to counseling to sign up and receive your study guide. Juniors do not need to do anything to take the test. Life After High School Fair: The Highline School District “Life After High School” fair will be October 7th at TYEE Campus. Career Center: Register now for the free National College Fair on Sunday Oct 18 and Monday Oct 19. 500 Colleges! Pick up a flyer in the Career Center. Seniors:
Senior Pictures: The deadline for turning in your Senior Picture for the YEARBOOK is Friday, October 30th. Questions? See Mr. Urner. Senior Meeting during Advisory on Thursday! Jostens will be here to distribute Cap/Gown/Announcement information. Don’t miss this important Graduation Meeting! Turn in orders to Jostens on Oct 21 at lunches and from 5:30 – 7:00pm. Sports: Activity Fee: The new Activity Fee for Sports of $50. ($25 for students qualifying for Free/Reduced Lunch) is due October 1. NEW SPORTS CALENDAR WEBPAGE: http://www.highschoolsports.net. Enter: Mount Rainier. Check out the tabs at the top to see which format suits you best. Clubs: Freshmen Class Elections will be Tuesday, Nov. 3rd. Candidate packets will go out about two weeks prior to that and speeches will be pre-recorded for viewing in the theater. Offices Open for Election are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Sophomore Class Secretary and Senior Class Secretary will also be elected on Nov 3 (vacant positions). DECA Club: Hey guys! We would like you to be a member of DECA. After school in Mr. Brandt’s room on Thursdays is when we meet up. Hope to see you there. Go DECA! Shades of Color meeting/practice TODAY, Tuesday in the cafeteria at 2:15! Be there! Amnesty International’s first meeting of the year is Tuesday, 2:15 in Rm 1505. Join with other students for cupcakes and the fight for your rights! Key Club: Hey, Key Clubber, how do you feel? A Key Clubber feels good – oh so good about making friends, community service and just having fun! Interested in any of those things? Well then come to Key Club’s ice cream social on Monday, September 21st in the Great Hall! Drama Club: Attention Actors, Singers, Dancers, & Performers! Drama Club will meet Tuesdays after school on the stage from 2:15 – 3:00pm Latino Club – come Wednesdays to Latino Club. Help make plans for the year and Latino Family Night, meet new and old friends and have some refrescos! 2:15 in Rm 2706. All are welcome. Knowledge Bowl: do you want to learn how to wow your friends with new found knowledge? Do you want to compete with your mind? Join Knowledge Bowl! Meetings are every Wednesday after school in Rm 2701. French Club: Come join French Club Thursday, 2:15 in Rm 1708. You don’t have to speak French, just enjoy games and activities like films and Mille Bornes. African American Society of Leaders: 1st meeting of the year will be Tuesday, 9/15 at 2:15 in room 1514! There will be snacks so we hope to see you there. If you have any questions see Olivia Akers or Niesha Curry-Kirkland. Leadership: Mount Rainiers got talent and we want to see it! If you want to perform the National Anthem at any assembly this year auditions will be held Thursday, 9/24 after school in the leadership room. Vocalist or instrumental, all are encouraged to tryout.
