Howard Haworth, custodian with the district from 1971-1991, passed away on March 1. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, at the Burien Free Methodist Church, 520 S 150th St, Burien, at 10:00 a.m.

Olga Price passed away on January 24 at the age of 95. She was the school cook at Riverton Heights from 1955 to 1975. Olga substituted from 1976-1978. In Memoriam

Helen Carvo passed away on August 3. She worked for the district from 1966 until her retirement in 2005 in various capacities (crossing guard, noon-duty assistant, lunchroom aide, and class-size assistant).

Harriet Ittner passed away on July 28 at the age of 85. She worked as a substitute teacher from 1972 to 1988.

Karen Knutzen, 1955 graduate of Highline High School, passed away on July 13. She was an elementary school teacher in our district from 1959 to 1990 when she retired.

Marie Parker passed away on June 12 at the age of 89. From 1955 to 1982, she was an elementary school teacher at McMicken Heights and Sunset and an elementary librarian at various locations.

Earl Wog passed away on December 31, 2008. Earl began his Highline career in 1958 as a math teacher at Cascade Junior High. During his 30 years with the district, he also taught at Pacific Junior High and Highline High School.

Joe McKamey passed away on April 10. In 1969, Joe was an English teacher at Cascade and then taught English at Mount Rainier from 1970-1977. From 1977 through 1980, he worked part time at ERAC in negotiations and policy development, and then from 1980 through 1983 as part time general counsel for the district.

Doris Brown passed away on May 19, after a “valiant eight-month battle with cancer.” From 1975, until her retirement in 1998, Doris worked in many offices: ERAC/Lake Burien, Vocational Exploratory & Prep Programs, Business Office, and the Facilities Department. Doris requested that a "final retirement party" be held in her honor at the Des Moines Odd Fellows Hall, located at 728 S 225th St, on Sunday, June 14, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Phyllis Moore passed away on March 3, 2009. She worked for our district for 37 years, beginning in 1952 at McMicken Heights. Through the years, she also taught at Maywood, Boulevard Park, Southern Heights, Mount View, and Shorewood. Phyllis retired June 1989.

Dale Beasley passed away on March 4, 2009. Dale taught at McMicken Heights from 1957-1961.

Bruce Jackson passed away suddenly on February 1 from a heart attack. Bruce came to the district in 1986 as an elementary counselor. From 1993 to 1997, he was counselor at Beverly Park Elementary School. In Memoriam
