Dewane Sauni accepts his award from White Center Kiwanis President Nancy Tracy.

Junior Dewane Sauni was selected as Student of the Month for April by the White Center Kiwanis Club. Dewane is finishing his junior year at New Start and graduating one year early.

Dewane's teachers give him their highest marks for scholarship, effort, and respect. "Dewane is a model student," says science teacher Andy Slater. "Other New Start students should look to Dewane as a role model for how to deal with school."

Katy Stone, Dewane's language arts and social studies teacher says, "His work is consistently of the highest quality - thorough, detailed, shows in-depth thinking, is neat and organized."

Dewane plans to attend Highline Community College next fall to begin studying for a career as a game designer.
