A Community Screening and Discussion of the Documentary Papers


The community is invited to a screening and discussion of the documentary Papers on Friday, November 20, at the University of Washington. It will be hosted by OneAmerica, an immigrant and refugee rights organization in Seattle, and is an opportunity to learn about the DREAM Act, Comprehensive Immigration Reform, and how immigrant youth are affected by current immigration laws.

Following the documentary, there will be a panel discussion featuring Jorge Alonso, a recent graduate from UW who is facing deportation. He has launched a campaign for the Dream Act and to stay in the U.S. http://www.alonsodreamact.info/

Presented by OneAmerica and the University of Washington Diversity Research Institute, this evening of film and discussion will highlight the struggles and challenges facing undocumented children in the United States. Following the film, a panel discussion moderated by OneAmerica Executive Director Pramila Jayapal will follow. A portion of the proceeds will fund OneAmerica's work to advance immigrant and civil rights.
