The English Language Learners program provides English language development, content-area instruction, and an orientation to American schools for over 2,900 students from 61 different language groups and 71 countries.

Program Overview / Services

  • Enroll ELL students.
  • Arrange transportation for ELL students.
  • Facilitate communication between families/schools.
  • Oversee program entry, placement, and exit services.
  • Provide yearly monitoring and post-exit follow-up.

Classroom Models

Students with beginning levels of English are placed in an ELL classroom with a specially trained teacher.  In this class, language development is emphasized along with content area instruction (reading, writing, math). Students with more developed English skills and progressing reading and writing skills are placed in the general education classroom.  Teachers use special teaching methods to help students continue learning academics and English.
