This course will be an advanced placement program, in which DigiPen Institute will teach video game design programming. Areas of study will include mathematics, computer science, computer programming and 3D computer animation. DigiPen hopes high school students who participate in this course will become technology creators in the future, rather than just end users of technology. Nintendo and DigiPen are helping answer the video game industry’s biggest need: qualified video game programmers. Many DigiPen graduates (with either a two-year associate degree or four-year B.S. degree) have secured positions with top companies such as Interplay, Dreamworks Interactive and KnowWonder. In preparation for advanced training in this program, students must have a 3.0 or better GPA in mathematics from their sophomore year, an artistic or graphic aptitude and must demonstrate commitment and a professional interest in working in the computer programming industry.

When I started going to OSC I wasn’t sure that OSC would have the class that I was looking for, but when I found DigiPen I knew I had found my class. In DigiPen I have learned things such as art, programming, and math; and have learned how to integrate them into the making of videogames. After I get through with OSC I am looking at going to DigiPen University for a degree.

Originally there were two programs at OSC that caught my interest from the beginning, but since I could only take one class I decided to take DigiPen this year and then if I didn’t enjoy it I would switch to my other choice next year. In this class I have learned some computer programming, some art editing, and have learned how to work in a job like environment.
