Each student completes the Pathways listed below which have strong competency based approach and some industry recognized certification. A complete set of general 'Computer Concepts' are to be completed by each student.

  1. TV Production & Broadcasting
    Video and TV basics, weather/ sports reporting, camera operation, mixer boards, video editing, pre-post production, 20+ live weekly news shows per year (iMovie, MovieMaker, Photoshop/Fireworks, TV textbook)
  2. Digital Photography & Video
    iMovie, Final Cut Express, Adobe Web Standard CS3, MovieMaker, Adobe Premier Elements
    (PSSC Marketing Video '05, Burien Strawberry Festival '06, Highline Times Who's Who - March '07)
  3. Web Site Design
    Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW)
    Internet Explorer, Firefox, HTML, Adobe Creative Suit Premium, Adobe CS3

  4. Graphic Design

  5. Microsoft Office System 2007
    Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher, Course Technology SAM
    (Staff software support, print name badges for various functions, certified for PSSC Student of the Year and Golden Award, maintain alumni database, and other projects as assigned)

Mr. Etherington's formal Education:

  • B.A degree in Physical Education at York University in Toronto, Canada in 1976
  • B.Ed. from the University of Toronto (U of T) in 1977
  • M.Ed. from the Ontario Institude for Studies in Education (OISE -U of T) in 1981

Mr. Etherington's work experience prior to PSSC:

  • Kirwood and Associates in Toronto between 1980 and 1986 specializing in computer based surveys and statistical analysis for cooperate groups
  • Taught comp. science, math and phys. & health ed. @ Erindale S.S in Toronto (10 yrs)

Mr. Etherington’s Philosophy:

  • Enjoy working with students
  • DMP utilizes a ‘project based’ approach
  • All college bound students need to know about computers
  • Soft skills such as interpersonal relationships, work in team environments and diverse groupings
