Retired School Employees Offer Small Grants to Teachers

The Southwest King School Retirees Association has raised $2,500 which will be given in the form of small grants to teachers. The grants are available to all school employees in the Highline, Tukwila, and Vashon School Districts. To receive a portion of the grant money, you must fill out a request form and state how the money will be used to benefit stude
nts by enriching their school experience. These forms will be
read by a committee and chosen on their merit. 

The forms will be available in each building by November 7. Due date for the requests is December 16, 2005. All applicants will be notified by February 17, 2006.

Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence Request for Proposal

Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence announces that $3,000 from the McGeehan Fund for Visual & Performing Arts will be awarded through the 2005 Excel Grant process.  

The purpose of this donor advised fund is 'To provide students interactive experiences in the visual and performing arts'.  

Examples of activities that could be funded: 

  • Artists-in-residence
  • Community/regional visual and performing artists as guests in schools
  • During and after-school visual arts programs leading to student art displays
  • Participation in performing arts groups such as theater, dance, music, and multicultural expressions
  • Trips to witness performing & visual arts creation and expression

Please use the Excel Grant request form (see attachment).  All requests will be reviewed. 

Maximum request $1,000 

Deadline for applications October 31, 2005

Total funds available – minimum $10,000

Decisions Made – late November 2005

Awards Made – December 2005 for Excel Grants & January 2006 for MAD Grants

 

Submit one grant request to either MAD Grants or Highline Schools Foundation and both organizations will review your request.
