The Highline
CHOICE Academy
has been winning praises from students and parents since its inception more than 10 years ago.
CHOICE provides a safe, student-centered educational environment. It
offers a wide selection of courses including all core classes and community-based electives for students in grades 7 through 12.
Parents play a major role in the Academy. They monitor
their student's elective classes and verify that goals are set and achieved.
At CHOICE, students are offered
more flexibility with their academic courses and school schedule. They partner with their parents to create
an elective class that is centered around District guidelines and their own personal interests. In addition, the CHOICE Academy provides sound academic counseling for all students.
Students progress through the Academy in several ways:

Some students stay with
CHOICE and complete all necessary graduation requirements, and earn a certificate of mastery.

Other students, who have
10th grade credits may choose to enroll in
Running Start with any community college in the area and graduate with a high
school diploma and/or Associate degree.

Still other students transition back
into the district neighborhood secondary schools after utilizing CHOICE to
stabilize work habits and/or health concerns, address personal issues, and achieve academic
success.
CHOICE Academy teachers integrate technology into our curricula in an effort to enhance student learning; our well-equipped computer laboratory
supports this.
The Highline CHOICE Academy emphasizes high parent involvement, student responsibility, high academic standards and a small learning environment for students at the secondary level. |
